Common does the Robot, and Pharrell is One

Once in a while, a music video comes along that inspires. This Bambata-esque track behind the ridiculously good abstract visuals are something that wouldn’t be as impressive if it weren’t for all the champagne videos that have become the norm. Hip hop is not dead, and this shit is the proof.

T-Pain Video Shows Mastery of Montage

Auto-tuning superhero T-Pain is an innovator, no doubt, and this video showcases his circus brand as a beautiful display of light and colour. We began to see this style in 2007 during Swizz Beats’ album release, but this one trumps that by a couple of levels, using more depth and motion.
A montage in graphic design [...]

Amazing Short Film Shot with a Still Camera

Wow. This was well worth the task of shooting and arranging over 2000 photos. It’s a cohesive stop-motion short-film that’s won awards. Of course, one could argue that it was filmed with a professional video camera and then manipulated to look like this, but really, who gives a fuck about technique when the result is [...]

Eccentric Guy is Straight Murder on the Keyboard

Respect this man. Mr. Ronald Jenkees is not your typical beat-maker. He’s even got a mild case of the crazies. Regardless of his weird mannerisms, there is no doubt that this dude has an unbelievable ear for the keyboard (think Polow da Don meets Capcom). Not only that, but he can make me question my [...]

Yet another Well-done Kenetic Typography Video

This motion typography stuff is genius, and I will continue to post them as long as they keep me impressed. This video, entitled ‘EGO,’ actually interacts with the footage shot, making the type look even more physical.

Saul Williams Gives in to the Machine

Oh Saul, it looks like it finally got the best of you. Now that your song has been used for a Nike campaign, you are now one of them and you can no longer preach your consciousness. Just kidding. We still got you, Saul.
He’s written an open letter to defend his decision, basically saying [...]

Claymation video is bloody funny with gory goodness.

Claymation is a tedious process. Watch Robot Chicken’s extras DVD and you’ll see just how long it takes to shoot something. Chaisaw Maid is well thought out and a very clever application of the artform. Some serious storyboard skills going on, and it’s executed very well. The ending was a bit stupid, but let’s put [...]

The 10 Real Reasons Why Geeks Make Better Lovers

Love this interesting article. Made me laugh, especially the ‘Geeks don’t shock easily’ part, since I am admittedly desensitized to everything. Anyways, give it a read and be sure to check out the girl’s personal blog; it’s quite informative.

Meaningful song makes for a beautiful animated video

The Flobots’ music video is quite the eye-opener. A great example of how art and music go hand-in-hand. The band went all the way with this illustrative style too, with USA bandanna-ridden dudes on the album cover. Love the message.

Converse commercial has a papery look

Paper cut outs dancing around? Cool. Converse has always been about grungy cut-and-paste, so this video is on brand, yet it’s done in a clean enough way to compete with an Apple commercial. The song is ‘My Drive Thru’ by Santogold, Julian Casablancas and N.E.R.D.
