Auto-tuning superhero T-Pain is an innovator, no doubt, and this video showcases his circus brand as a beautiful display of light and colour. We began to see this style in 2007 during Swizz Beats’ album release, but this one trumps that by a couple of levels, using more depth and motion.

A montage in graphic design terms means creating a composition from a bunch of overlapped elements. When done correctly, the real-life scales of the elements are switched, meaning that the images that are usually small appear huge and vice-versa. This is what invokes the valuable double-take from the viewer.

Syndrome, of Robot Film Company, is responsible for directing this video. He also directed Estelle’s American Boy and Black Eyed Peas’ It’s like that, and film isn’t his only medium.
